The DioField Chronicle is the newest strategy RPG from publisher and developer Square Enix, that puts players in control of a band of mercenaries who must carve their path through a world engulfed by war. When its PC release date arrives, players will not only get to meet the game’s rich cast of characters but also try out its “highly strategic” Real Time Tactical Battle system.
The DioField Chronicle was unveiled during March 2022’s State of Play showcase, with a trailer that featured a mixture of cutscenes and gameplay footage. Read on below for everything we know about the game, including details about its PC release date, gameplay, and more.
The DioField Chronicle Release Date
The DioField Chronicle’s release date is currently expected to occur on September 22, 2022, when it will arrive on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
In early July, the game’s Japanese Twitter account revealed that its release date has been locked down to said date, other accounts sharing the news later. A trial version is slated to launch on August 10.
The DioField Chronicle Story
The DioField Chronicle follows a band of elite mercenaries calling themselves Blue Fox as they join the fight against the Trovelt-Schoevian Empire who, after waging devastating war against the Rowetale Alliance, seemingly set its sights on the Kingdom of Alletain.
There aren’t many other known details about the game’s story at this point, but its official website vaguely suggests that players might get to determine whether or not the name Blue Fox will stand for hope or tragedy.
The DioField Chronicle Characters
The publisher has so far detailed eight of the characters we’ll get to meet and possibly control throughout The DioField Chronicle.
Andrias Rhondarson
One of the four heads of the Blue Foxes, described as “a calm, cool, and resourceful leader.” Having studied strategy, tactics, and Diofield’s Ancient Sorcery, he found his calling in the art of subterfuge.
Fredret Lester
Another of the Blue Foxes’ four heads, Fredret shares a strong bond with his childhood friend, Andrias. Direct and honest, he uses his “superb physical attributes” and riding skills to attack from horseback.
Iscarion Colchester
The son of a minor noble and yet another head of the Blue Foxes, he became a knight-errant and traveled across the kingdom on his own, before joining the mercenaries as a “prodigiously talented archer”.
Waltaquin Redditch
A noblewoman of House Redditch and head of the Blue Foxes’, Waltaquin led a cozy life, but her early interest in Ancient Sorcery and undeniable intelligence have seen her transform into an extremely capable magic user.
Izelair Wigan
The only daughter of famous mercenary Zoruaq Wigan, Izelair has made herself known thanks to her “swift and dextrous swordsmanship.”
Lorraine Luckshaw
Lorraine Luckshaw is an administrator of the mercenary company who also acts as its intermediary with the government. Hailing from the mid-rank noble house Luckshaw, she worked as a high-ranking official within the government before joining the Blue Foxes.
Hezeliah Shaytham
The princess of Alletain, Hezeliah Shaytham was captured by second prince Victor and his close ally Lord Kimble while attempting to escape the war alongside her family. They are now imprisoned inside Beasel Tower.
William Hende
The head of House Hende and one of the wealthiest men in the kingdom, his being appointed as a councilor on the Lords Council prompted him to set up his own order of knights and build up his military.
The DioField Chronicle Gameplay
The DioField Chronicle’s gameplay revolves around properly positioning your units and using their distinct strengths and skills to overcome your enemies.
Its Real Time Tactical Battle system will likely make things a bit more challenging and require quicker reactions from players, while a strategic map lets you pick your battles. Fulfilling certain conditions, like having no allies fall during a fight, yields extra rewards.
The use of diorama-style visuals also places more emphasis on your role as a commander.
The DioField Chronicle System Requirements
No word yet, aside from the fact that you’ll need a 64-bit processor and operating system to run The DioField Chronicle.
Where can you buy The DioField Chronicle and how much does it cost?
While its pricing is currently unknown, you can find the PC version of The DioField Chronicle on Steam and its console counterparts on their respective stores.
