The latest brand new property from Nexon Games is giving potential fans a chance to try out how it plays, with The First Descendant having a beta that starts today, only on Steam. Running for six days, The First Descendant beta kicks off at 00:00 PDT / 08:00 BST on Thursday, October 20, and will give pretty much a full week to play until it closes on Wednesday, October 26 at just before midnight, or 07:59 BST.
According to the developer, the beta will allow players to try out 10 unlockable characters “each with unique abilities, as well as missions, weapons, grappling hooks”, and of course, there will be “huge boss fights”. Nexon Games describes the game as a “cooperative looter-shooter” that’s coming to PC via Steam, as well as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S | X. |
The First Descendant Beta Start Time
- First Descendant Beta starts at 00:00 PDT / 08:00 BST on Steam
It will offer four player co-op and third-person shooter gameplay to take on the strategic battles, with the powers and abilities of each of the unlockable characters offering synergy together.
There will be customisation in terms of the cosmetics, and you’ll be able to equip three guns and four secondary pieces of equipment, as well as various sub-weapons to take the fight to the alien invaders, in order to protect humanity.
The official word on the game from the developer is as follows:
“The player becomes a Descendant whose mission is to fight against alien invaders for the survival of humanity by protecting the Ingris continent. Experience a spectacular story while growing stronger through various missions and stories to finally discover the Descendants’ secret”.
Beta players can join in-game events to earn currency and rewards that unlock more playable characters or improve weapons and abilities.
While there’s no firm release date for The First Descendant, the beta suggests it’s at least not that far off, though Steam just lists it as “coming soon”. Taking part in the beta and completing the ‘Void Intercept Battle Frost Walker’ mission will earn players the ‘Frost Walker Hunter’ title at launch.
Twitch drops will be activated for players to gain access and unlock rewards, and you can find out more about that here.
