Anticipation is building around the potential The Last of Us Part 2 PC release date. Known as one of the PS4’s most celebrated games, The Last of Us Part 2 captivates players with its stunning visuals and gripping story, further expanding on the series’ post-apocalyptic world and characters.
If you’ve been immersed in the original game, or if you’re eager to explore it before delving into the TV show’s second season, the possibility of The Last of Us Part 2 PC release date may pique your interest.
Historically, the likelihood of a The Last of Us Part 2 PC release date would have seemed improbable, as exclusives have traditionally remained within the PlayStation ecosystem for most of their lifespan. However, as PlayStation moves forward, there’s increasing hope for a The Last of Us Part 2 PC release date, especially considering Sony’s recent trend of bringing its exclusives to the PC platform.
The Last of Us Part 2 PC Release Date
Unfortunately, a PC release date for The Last of Us Part 2 has not been announced as of yet, making it challenging to predict when it might break free from the confines of console exclusivity. The Last of Us Part 2 was released for the PlayStation 5 on the 19th January 2024, although there’s still no word on a PC release. We expect it to be released in 2025.

The original title’s remake has been available on PC since March 2023, which means that there’s certainly hope for the sequel to also make the jump at some point in the future.
Sony hasn’t revealed a set schedule for its PC releases and it generally announces ports relatively close to their launch.
The earliest we could see The Last of Us Part 2 getting a PC release date is during the end of 2024, but it’s just as likely that it will take longer.
According to recent credible leaks, the PC version of The Last of Us Part 2 has been in development for the last few years. It’s said that development has been completed since November 2021, so it’s ready to release but Sony is holding it back.
In an interview from May 2023 with Famitsu, translated by ResetEra, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan suggested that, while PC ports remain part of the company’s strategy, they may continue to launch years after the PS5 versions.
“We also fully understand the importance of PS5 exclusive titles. As I mentioned earlier, PlayStation Studios’ main responsibility is to have people enjoy the game experience using the latest PS. We are increasing the number of PS5-exclusive titles and staggering the release of the PC version,” Ryan said.
“I often have the opportunity to ask game fans for their opinions, and when I ask them about the time lag, they say that selling the PC version two or three years after the release of the PS version is accepted favorably.”
This may be the reason the PC version is being held back, although it could be released simultaneously with the HBO launch of Series 2 sometime in 2025.
Next up on PC? God of War Ragnarok in September.
