Publisher and developer GrizzlyGames today announced that minimalist strategy game Thronefall is preparing to enter Steam Early Access on August 2, 2023.
Thronefall is described by its developer as a “strategy game without all the headache,” removing a good chunk of the complexity often found in real-time strategy games while mixing in a dose of hack and slash (or, rather, slay).

In practice, this translates to a gameplay loop split into two significantly different parts. During the day, you use gold to build up your base, economy, and defenses.
During the night, you defend it against increasingly stronger enemy attacks while also using your ruler to deal additional damage with both melee and ranged attacks.
“At Early Access release Thronefall will already offer a well polished experience with 4 levels to play and many perks to unlock,” the developer wrote in a recent Steam post.
“Over the course of the Early Access period we’ll add more content, that will offer additional playtime and add even more depth to the gameplay.”
Currently, Thronefall’s Steam Early Access stay is intended to last somewhere from six to twelve months.
As far as its price tag goes, it will cost £6.99/€6.99/$6.99 at launch but will become more expensive as additional content gets added.
The title was featured during Steam Next Fest, its demo counting among the ten most popular from the event.
