Publisher Sega and developer Creative Assembly today pushed a small update for Total War: Empire and Napoleon, removing integrated chat while adding support for 12th-generation Intel CPUs.
The update also addresses a crash that users of Intel’s latest processors could experience when playing both Total War: Empire and Napoleon. In addition, it should also bring “notable performance improvements” on modern systems.
Total War: Empire and Napoleon Small Update
“Due to difficulties supporting and moderating dated chat systems in the current online environment, we’ve taken steps to remove the integrated chat from Total War: Empire and other legacy titles in our catalogue,” reads the Steam post detailing the update.
“We are, however, continuing to investigate ways to properly implement and support chat in our future projects and will keep you updated on any changes or developments we make.”
The publisher encourages players to use the official Total War Discord or other third-party software to communicate with teammates following the removal of integrated chat.
Unsurprisingly, there’s no new content introduced to Total War: Empire and Napoleon in this latest update. More than a decade old now, the two titles were given the definitive edition treatment back in 2018.
New content is, however, coming to Total War: Warhammer 3, which recently saw the Chaos Dwarfs entering the fray and has more updates and DLC planned throughout the year.
