The Total War: Three Kingdoms development team is moving on to a new project based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel. Developer Creative Assembly shared the news today in a video touching upon the strategy game’s future.
Fates Divided was the final piece of DLC planned for Total War: Three Kingdoms and, with it having released in March, the team is moving on, but not before delivering the “substantial” 1.7.1 Patch that goes live today.
“Our team, who has been working from home over the past year, now has transitioned into pre-production for our next entry in the Three Kingdoms universe, giving us a fresh opportunity to build on this incredible world,” Associate Art Director Lulu Zhang said.
“We will share more of our direction and scope when we are able, but for now, we are happy to tell you that we are increasing our focus on the novel’s rich cast of characters and their individual and unique narratives, taking the core of what made Total War: Three Kingdoms so special and pushing it further.”
Designer David Torres noted that Creative Assembly’s new Romance of the Three Kingdoms project offers “an opportunity to cement ourselves as a standalone team within the historical Total War umbrella and continue to produce Three Kingdoms content alongside some of the other historical projects we have in the works.”
Total War: Three Kingdoms’ patch 1.7.1 goes live today, introducing a set of fixes requested by the community, while moving Mount Song and Hulao pass to their correct locations on the campaign map. You can read more about it in the patch notes blog on the game’s official website.
A new Complete your Collection bundle also becomes available today. Until July 8, players can “fill in any gaps in their Three Kingdom’s DLC library at a further discount.” Total War: Three Kingdoms is available now on PC.
