Valorant, Riot Games’ free-to-play first-person shooter has now fully launched. As it’s a title that embraces the competitive side of things, knowing how to increase FPS can be vital for getting those sought-after wins.
Here are a few tips on how to get a much needed FPS Boost when playing Valorant.
Valorant FPS Boost
Before looking into ways of gaining a Valorant FPS boost, it’s worth making sure that your PC’s specs aren’t below the game’s system requirements. Here’s what they look like:
Minimum (30 FPS):
- OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit)
- RAM: 4GB
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
- GPU: Intel HD 4000 (1GB VRAM)
Recommended (60 FPS):
- OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit)
- RAM: 4GB
- CPU: Intel i3-4150
- GPU: GeForce GT 730 (1GB VRAM)
High-end (144+ FPS):
- OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit)
- RAM: 4GB
- CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2Ghz
- GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti (1GB VRAM)
As you can see, Valorant’s system requirements aren’t particularly demanding. Now, head into the game’s video settings menu and make sure it’s set to your monitor’s native resolution.
The first settings you should consider lowering for a Valorant FPS Boost are Material Quality, Texture Quality, Detail Quality and Anisotropic Filtering.
Start by setting them all to medium and 2X, then tweak accordingly until you reach the desired amount of FPS. The exact values will vary depending on your PC or laptop build. Additionally, you can also experiment with toggling Shadows off.
While not necessarily helpful with an FPS boost, turning Distortion off and Improve Clarity on can also result in an overall visual experience that’s easier on the eye.
Getting the latest graphics drivers could also contribute to getting a Valorant FPS boost. Nvidia has released a set of drivers with Riot’s FPS in mind, although, depending on when you read this, there might be newer ones out.
