Valorant’s Operator sniper rifle is set to be nerfed when Patch 1.09 drops, and we now know what these changes involve.
In an interview with Team Liquid’s Mento, which you can watch below, Game Designer Nicholas Smith outlined all the upcoming nerfs that the Valorant’s Operator will receive.
The Operator is dreaded by players due to its ability to kill opponents with a single shot to the body. “We know that this weapon can feel very oppressive to play against, often leaving players feeling like there is no hope when attacking.” Lead Agent Designer Max “Orcane” Grossman explained prior to detailing the Patch 1.08 notes.
Valorant Operator Nerfs Patch 1.09
Here is the full list of Operator nerfs set to go live when Valorant’s Patch 1.09 hits live servers:
- Price increased to 5000 from 4500
- Scope movement speed decreased to 72% from 76%
- Scope deadzone decreased to 15% movement speed from 30% movement speed
- Fire rate decreased to 0.6 from 0.75
- Instant equip time (after planting, defusing or abilities like Cloudburst) increased to 0.5s from 0.3s
- Leg shot damage decreased to 120 from 127
- Jump land accuracy -> Players are fully inaccurate for 0.225s, gradual recovery removed
Smith clarified that the jump land accuracy changes will affect all of Valorant’s weapons, not just the Operator sniper rifle.
This set of Operator nerfs will likely reduce its dominance in Valorant matches, forcing players to rely less on it and experiment with other weapons.
Valorant is free-to-play and available on PC.
