Respawn Entertainment founder and CEO Vince Zampella will also lead DICE LA starting with this year.
With Vince Zampella at the helm, DICE LA will move away from being a support studio for Battlefield developer DICE Stockholm, aiming to develop a new, currently unannounced title of its own.
Vince Zampella to Lead DICE LA
As reported by the Los Angeles Times, the studio will now be “separate from DICE Stockholm and separate from Respawn.”.
“We will probably rebrand,” Zampella said. “We want to give it a new image. We want people to say, ‘This is a destination you can go and make new content.’ I think they’ve kind of gotten the branding that they are the support studio for DICE Stockholm. I think rebranding is important for showing people, ‘Hey! Come work here. We’re going to do some amazing things.’”
Vince Zampella will continue to lead Respawn Entertainment after taking the helm of DICE LA, describing his role as “more of a head coach”. Laura Miele, EA’s chief studios officer will oversee the move.
DICE LA was founded from the remains of Danger Close, developer of the rebooted Medal of Honor series, following the release of the disappointing Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
