Focus Entertainment and Auroch Digital have revealed the first DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, its retro boomer shooter, will be released on 18th June for the PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PS4. The Forges of Corruption DLC will also be released on the Nintendo Switch but at a later date.
The Forges of Corruption will feature new areas to explore as you battle to rid the planet Graia of the hellish forces of Chaos before it can spread its corruption.
What's the Forges of Corruption DLC going to add?
You will face the challenging Helbrute, the heavy weapon-wielding Havoc, and the devastating lightning claws of the Terminator, all new enemies added to the game with this DLC. Luckly, there’s new weapons available to take them on, including the Multi-melta and Missile Launcher.
Focus Entertainment says it will offer the base game and The Forges of Corruption DLC packaged together for a discounted price, which will likely be revealed during a Q&A session the developers are having on the 24th of May on its discord channel.
Free horde mode for all players of Warhammer 40K Boltgun
Auroch Digital says that it’s been listening to player feedback and revealed that the team is developing a horde mode, which will be available for free as a standalone update to the DLC.
The Horde mode is similar to what you’ve seen in other games, popularised by the Gears of War franchise. It’s essentially a survival mode where you aim to withstand as many enemy waves as possible, with the difficulty becoming increasingly more challenging as the waves progress.
The horde mode will be released for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun on the 18th of June and comes with four difficulty settings and achievements.
The patch will also add a navigation guide to help direct the Ultramarine through levels, along with numerous bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun will be discounted by 35% during the Warhammer Skulls Festival. If you haven’t tried it before, this is a great opportunity. It was last discounted in April, but we believe this is the first time such a discount has been offered on consoles.
Just to quickly recap before we close out, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun Forges of Corruption and its free content update will arrive on the 18th of June for PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PS4. It will be released on the Nintendo Switch at a later date.
