Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters puts you in charge of Grey Knights Strike Force Xiphos, tasking you with stopping the Bloom – one of Nurgle’s many plagues – from spreading across the Tyrtaeus sector. To do so and beat back the Plague Lord’s forces, you’ll employ multiple classes, each with its own unique skill set.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters launches with a total of eight classes. Four of them are available from the very start of the campaign, while the other four are advanced classes that you earn as you defeat Nurgle’s forces.
To unlock the latter, you’ll need to gain the favor of the Steward of the Armoury. Once you gain access to them, advanced classes enter your available unit rotation, becoming purchasable in exchange for requisition.
Each class in Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters has unique upgrades alongside 36 abilities that you can unlock. Some of these are active, others are passive, and you’ll have to carefully consider how you spend the limited skill points each of your Grey Knights has access to.
Here are Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters’ eight basic and advanced classes alongside their abilities, as described by the developer.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters Basic Classes
Justicar
Frontline warrior that uses its Crushing Charge ability to blast through all obstacles and enemies lying in its path, stunning units in its path and sending them flying. The Honour the Chapter ability then allows the Justicar to boost an ally’s action points and willpower, letting them take more actions in a turn.
Interceptor
Fast moving skirmisher whose Teleport Strike ability allows him to zip to a location, damaging enemies in its path and closing the distance to his target. Support Fire is a reactionary ability that allows the Interceptor class to fire at an enemy at no cost when an ally does so.
Purgator
Ranged heavy weapons specialist who has access to the Emperor’s Light ability, which blinds enemies in an area with a blast of psychic energy, while also having a chance to remove mutations caused by the Bloom. The Arcane Weapons ability sanctifies your allies’ ammo, increasing the damage of their ranged attacks.
Apothecary
Combat medic that can heal allies with his Battlefield Medicine ability, provided he has a Narthecium equipped and healing resources at the ready. Biomancies then buff his allies’ abilities, granting them additional action points or increasing their chance to stun enemies.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters Advanced Classes
Paladin
Elite Terminator Armour-clad warrior able to pulverize enemies using powerful combat-focused abilities.
Chaplain
Uses prayers and litanies to buff allies while also being able to remove debuffs inflicted by Nurgle’s forces.
Librarian
Veteran psyker that relies on devastating psychic attacks in the battle against mankind’s enemies.
Purifier
Flamer wielder capable of incinerating enemies who come too close while also removing mutations and afflictions.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters’ eight classes should provide quite a bit of choice in terms of playstyles and abilities and we’ll likely learn more about them in the lead-up to its launch later in 2022.
