Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive unveiled Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 during The 2021 Game Awards with a cinematic trailer confirming Captain Titus’ return. The sequel’s unveiling soon prompted questions regarding its release date.
The sequel appears to build on the foundations established by 2011’s entry in the series while introducing new foes, the Tyranids and Chaos Space Marines. We played against the Orkz in the 2011 original.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will see players donning Ultramarine Power Armor again when its third-person shooter hack-n-slasher action begins at some point in 2024, with players battling across different locales, including an imposing Imperial city.
Space Marine 2 Release Date
Later, in June 2023, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s release date was confirmed on 9th September, 2024 and it will release on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Purchasers of the Gold or Collector’s Edition will gain early access to play Space Marine 2, starting from September 6th, three days ahead of the official release.

Characters and Voice Actors
Mark Strong will not be returning to his role as Captain Titus. In this installment, the leadership of the Space Marine will be voiced by Clive Standen, an actor you might recognise from the Vikings TV series.
Gameplay and Story
The game’s announcement trailer offered a brief gameplay preview, where Titus utilises his jump pack to plunge into a swarm of Tyranids. He is also seen fending them off with his bolter and cutting through them with the Space Marines’ signature chainsword.
We also get a look at a ravaged but still glorious Imperial city, and may end up traveling beyond it since a blurb on the publisher’s website mentions, “epic battles on far-flung planets.”
During The Game Awards 2022, we got a better look at how the game plays in a trailer that showcased more crumbling architecture and large Tyranid swarms.
The title will also launch with co-op support for its campaign, enabling up to three players to team up and blast Tyranids to bits.
Although Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 won’t be releasing for a while yet, we expect to learn more over the coming months. The original had its flaws but ended up earning the title of “one of 2011’s best surprises” when we reviewed it.
