Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader’s Lower Decks valve puzzle might leave you scratching your head after the satisfying conclusion of its Dark Echelons quest. A second ago, you helped avoid another disaster on your voidship and now you’re chasing after a seemingly esoteric solution and steaming pipes.
Although completing Rogue Trader’s valve puzzle isn’t mandatory, doing so does yield experience alongside a bundle of items that may prove very useful when you find yourself surrounded by heretics. Read on below to uncover its solution.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Valve Puzzle
Shortly after arriving on the Lower Decks during Rogue Trader’s Dark Echelons quest, you’ll likely notice a series of valves. Although they may pique your curiosity, you won’t be able to interact with them right away.
You’ll first need to head towards the southeastern side of the area, where you’ll walk into a very tensionate encounter, during which you’ll need to make your choice regarding the fate of the workers in Depot 4.
Afterwards, you can explore the area where the crowd previously gathered. During our playthrough, doing so resulted in the party observing a Manometer above a pipe that was leaking steam.
Successfully interacting with it (via Tech-Use) allowed us to turn the Valve below it. This is the first step towards finding the solution to Rogue Trader’s Lower Decks valve puzzle.
The rest of it involves interacting with other valves spread across the area. The Tab key, which highlights nearby objects and characters, is your best friend here.
You’ll essentially need to track down the valves tied to pipes that emit steam, in a similar manner to the first one, and interact with them. There does seem to be a specific order in which you need to turn them, but trial and error also works.
When attempting to turn the “wrong” valve, a message pops up, informing you that nothing happened while suggesting that you seek other valves. This leads us to believe that there’s no need to worry about failing the puzzle.
Thoroughly searching the area while making liberal use of the Tab key should fairly quickly see you tracking down the final valve.
It’s located at the spot in the screenshots above. Turning it opens up a nearby grate, allowing you to access a crate full of items. Note that you cannot blitz straight to it, as you’ll get the same message informing you that nothing happened. Here’s what you’ll find inside.
- Force Grenade x3
- Krak Grenade
- Melta Charge x3
- Multikey x3
These items might not be the biggest bounty a servant of the Imperium has ever uncovered on their travels, but blowing stuff up and locked containers are frequent occurrences throughout the rest of the campaign, so they’re bound to be useful sooner or later.
That covers Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader’s Lower Decks valve puzzle and the solution required to complete it.
