Warhammer: Chaosbane is what happens when you take the Warhammer Fantasy setting and decide to pull a Diablo because, hey, it hasn't been done before, and it damn well should be. Coming from the developers of How to Survive hack 'n' slash series, Chaosbane looks like it'll have a bit of pedigree.
Eko Software have so far graced us with but a single gameplay video, but it's more than enough to get our juices flowing. Featuring both close-combat and spellcasting gameplay, Warhammer: Chaosbane's first batch of promotional materials leaves quite a first impression.
In the video, demonstrated is a short gameplay session between two players enjoying Warhammer: Chaosbane's local multiplayer functionality. While one employs the services of an Imperial Captain who excels in close combat, the other is using a High Elf mage to dish out heavy damage from further away.
An interesting tidbit about spellcasting is that mages will be able to fine-tune how, where, and for how long their spells are active, which means repositioning AoE effects and controlling lightning strikes on the fly. Similarly, players can enter Bloodlust mode that grants them access to a whole different set of skills.
Though we don't really know much about Warhammer: Chaosbane, we can tell that it does look like something you'd expect to see in a Diablo game, and we mean that in the best way possible. The game is currently undergoing active development, and is planned to come out sometime in 2019.
