Dishonored 2 is out tomorrow and we’re playing through it for our review that’s coming very soon. However in the meantime we thought you all would appreciate a Performance Test of the game to see how well it runs and how well it’s been optimized.
Here’s a video showing the various Visual Settings and how they run in-game, with the Presets for Low, Medium, High, Very High and Ultra tested against Corvo Attano’s arrival in the game’s new location of Karnaca.
TEST SYSTEM:
- OS: Windows 10 64-Bit
- Processor: AMD-FX 6300 Six-Core Processor
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 4Gb
By now you will have probably heard all the horror stories of how Dishonored 2 is a buggy mess on PC, with gamers flocking to bombard the game’s Steam page into the dreaded realm of ‘Mixed’ reviews.
I am not here to tell you those reviews are false, since there are clearly plenty of people who can’t get Dishonored 2 working right and are awaiting a patch. I am however going on record that unfortunately on the test system I had the game ran perfectly in Ultra settings. Granted I’ve only played two hours of it so far and so it’s possible later levels are more systems intensive, but in full maximum Ultra settings I have not had a lick of slowdown.
I’ll judge the game properly once I’ve finished it of course, but I’ve so far not had the same problems affecting players with both better and worse PCs than myself. I wanted to let you know this since the people complaining are drowning out those having a good time with Dishonored 2 - their complaints are valid, but Dishonored 2 is NOT “a broken buggy mess” for everyone. And you need to know that before you decide to buy it or not.
To finish off, have some shots of the game’s rather refreshingly extensive graphics options:
