I was flying yesterday over the flashy lands covered with snow in the vicinity of Ironforge city admiring the view, and impacting deeply my warrior heart. In the back of my sublime gryphon from which I looked at the vast planes filled with monsters and heroes, at the green forests where the rivers flow unabashed, at the crowded city I call “home”. Hmmm… but I am just a 20 years old guy and I never flied on a gryphon! Well then… why do I have such a memories? The answer is simple. I played World of Warcraft. Did you like Warcraft 1, 2 or 3? Then you will love this game. Sit back while I try to explain exactly why…
Orcs are one of the many races you could choose to play in World of Warcraft.
The interior of houses is well decorated, which is a nice addition for an MMORPG.
There are so many things to do in WOW, so many landscapes to admire, monsters to kill, missions to complete, armors to make up and other players to lynch, that one night is not enough to do all you wanted and you will always go to sleep with the thought of what you will do tomorrow. The story of the game is a very big – you can learn about it by reading a lot of books strewed all around the world: in taverns, in the cottages of the forest, in the royal library of Stormwind and in many others hidden or unhidden places of Kalimdor.
In the beginning the game will seem pretty easy. You just have to go around killing local fauna. But then after the first 10 dings (level ups) , when you enter one of the world’s capitals: Darnassus, Stormwnid, Ironforge, Ogrimmar, Thunder Bluff and The Undercity, the game opens and becomes catchy, interesting and harder. You will get more and more quests, be able to team with other players for crossing through harder missions, start traveling longer distances etc. You will be able to choose one of 8 races. 4 alliance races: Human, Dwarf, Night Elf, Genome and 4 horde races: Orc, Tauren, Troll, Undead. The race you choose doesn’t really matter too much. More important is the hero class. This is what will underline all your game existence. Its one to play with a cowardly rogue that hides behind his shadow and uses infamous ways to kill his enemies and another to play with a fearless warrior and break bones without even blinking.
You can increase your experience either by practicing spell casting or killing the similarly leveled monsters or by completing quests. In WOW players can interact with NPCS (non playing characters) in order to fulfill different mini-quests or plots. While some of these are rather simple, many will require difficult fights and you cannot complete them solely on your own. Here starts the interesting part of the game. The TEAM play. The guys from Blizzard Entertainment made a really nice team system. Among with your other partners you will be able to wipe out entire clans or high level monsters. Of course they will all respawn and if you are “lucky”, in the case of human opponents, they will look after you.
You will travel to many exotic places, like this night elf city.
You will meet many different characters on your journey, many with unique personalities.
In games like this the death is common. Many of the MMORPGs until now applied penalty points when you got killed which made you believe you lost many hours for nothing. WOW eliminates this system. When you die, you will be able to respawn as a ghost (or as a wisp in the case of the night elf race) at the nearest graveyard. You can also be resurrected by a healer. This way we don’t need to “be afraid of dying” anymore. Great thing guys!
The skills system in WOW is pretty similar with Diablo series. Every character has 3 different types of skills (for example the warrior can learn protection, arms and fury, the mage can specialize himself in fire, frost or arcane magic etc.). The most of skills can be bought from “trainers” of the respective class when you advance in level. The game comes with some special abilities also - the talents. You can learn a talent and specialize into it by using your talent points. Unfortunately you will earn these talent points very slow – one point per ding (level up).
But the thing that really pushes this game to top is the team system. It is so thrilling to play in a guild, knowing that you have friends of higher levels ready to help you out with any quests that are too difficult for you to solely handle it. Friends with whom you can chat and travel along. It makes the game seem real and quite fun to play.
Many of the cities in World of Wacraft are densely populated with other players.
Parties are essential to surviving
The WoW graphics are up to date. You will either play indoor or outdoor, during day or night, in deep dungeons or on vast plains. Well designed and atmospheric environment strewed with little but spicy creatures like birds, squirrels, rabbits etc. As a game that respects itself, WOW audio part has been worked out accordingly. It’s packed with catchy music that will accompany you during your long and dusty travels.
WORLD OF WARCRAFT VERDICT
All in all, World of Warcraft is an impressive game that shouldn’t be missing from your games collection. Buy it, install it and prepare for a high quality experience that will make you to forget the daily routine. So get it, and take a deep breath, it will be a long night…
