BattleTech is the new tactics game from Harebrained Schemes, the developers behind the recent excellent Shadowrun games, set in the BattleTech tabletop universe - the same one as MechWarrior - where armies manned by giant BattleMechs fight terrible wars. It's just astonishing that it's taken this long to make a proper adaptation of the tabletop game, complete with Mechs and turn-based tactics.
The game is set in the popular 3025 Succession Wars Era of the BattleTech Universe, which is often referred to as "Classic BattleTech". The game is lead by Jordan Weisman, who is the creator of the BattleTech universe and owner of the IP - and also of the Shadowrun universe, which is how the games came about. The game had a successful Kickstarter campaign back in 2015 where 41,733 backers pledged $2,785,537 towards the game. It was funded in the time it took us to write about it.
