Have you logged over 200 hours in GTA V? Have you completed just about all you can do? Well, return to San Andreas one more time with these mods guaranteed to add a little variety to this great game. Below you will find several carefully selected mods and utilities that will add spice to any play-through.
Script Hook V + Native Trainer v1.0.463.1 by Alexander Blade
This utility hooks a scripting library into the GTA V engine. With this, one can create custom plugins that allow for a variety of changes to the game that one wouldn’t normally be able to do. This utility will be required for many other mods one may find on this site. Script Hook V is only available for the single player game. It will disable itself for multiplayer.
OpenIV v2.6.4 by The OpenIV Team
Our next utility is an open source editor and resource manager. With this you can edit and export sound files, edit textures, manage custom ASI (the file format that Script Hook V uses), and more. If you’re interested in creating custom content for GTA V, this tool is a great place to start.
GTAV Mod Manager v1.0.5688.9657 by Bilago
This is our last stop on the utility train. Here we have a great mod manager to easily install and uninstall any mods you wish to take for a test drive. This will keep your game directory clean, handles .NET and Lua files, has an offline and online mode and more. All in all, the mod manager featured here is almost essential if you try out a variety of mods.
Character Menu v1.2 by Dalton
This mod primarily focuses on allowing you to play as any NPC in the game. You will have over 500 NPC’s to choose from, and most have customization options. The mod even lets you choose from almost every piece of clothing in the game to outfit your new NPC. As a bonus, the author threw in his keyboard input manager to add some responsiveness to each keystroke. This should make your next trip to San Andreas a little different.
Crime and Police Rebalance and Enhancement v1.401 by xCamoLegend
This mod focuses on making the police sub-system of GTA V a little more interesting and less frustrating. Here are a few of the features: NPC’s need to call the police on you, they don’t just automatically know when you’ve commited a crime; enemy AI has been rebalanced, with a focus on accuracy – vehicles and NPC type have been taken into account; police have better weapons and their vehicles have been tweaked; much more.
CryingLightning’s FX v2.0 by CryingLightning
Here we have a pure graphics enhancing mod. This utilizes the “SweetFX” shader set. CryingLightning created 4 different versions, all with different merits. You can choose from “Realistic”, Reaistic Red-ish”, “Cinematic” and “Cinematic 2”.
Ped Money v1.4b by diamond-optic
This is one of those basic mods that fixes something that many people do not like about the vanilla game. “Ped Money” is pretty self-explanatory: pedestrians will drop more money when killed. The actual value is random based off of a configuration item. This mod requires Script Hook V, which we linked to earlier in this editorial.
