The PC master race is getting a little stepbrother in the form of PlayStation Now streaming services. That’s right, this will allow you to stream a huge library of PlayStation games on everything from your parent’s laptop to your beastly gaming desktop if so desired. There are hundreds of games available in the service. These range from worldwide releases to console exclusives.
Here are a few games you may want to visit using the service.
Infamous & Infamous 2
Sometimes regarded as Prototype’s little brother, Infamous electrifies players with a supremely enjoyable superhero romp around an open world reminiscent of Spider-Man 2. The game features a host of electric powers that change based on the choices you make throughout the storyline and general play-style. If you want to feel like a power conductor with parkour skills, this is the series for you.
Infamous 2 improves on the original and boasts a great piece of DLC content in the form of Festival of Blood. The value proposition of these two titles is immense.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
It’s worth noting that Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception are also available, but the second entrant in the series is by far the most compelling. As Indiana Jones and Lara Croft hybrid, Nathan Drake you will be delving into ancient tombs, fighting off mercenaries and possibly finding the secrets of the supernatural. If only Drake could figure out that the ledge he is grabbing on will break as soon as he touches it.
That said if you were looking for a trilogy, Uncharted as a series is a great way to go. The first game may be a bit rough around the edges, but those corners are smoothed to perfection in the sequels.
God of War III
PC users have gone without this series for years. Seeing Kratos smash his way through platform exclusivity would be a long time coming and welcome addition. In God of War III you can expect a myriad of destruction brought about by a one man demigod that can’t be stopped. But, he’s a really nice, loving father, we swear!
Similar to Uncharted, you can’t go wrong giving the entire series a go around for another fill of destruction. In fact there are a total of six games available for you.
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
Another series that has avoided the PC market for years. 2013’s Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is an adventure title full of tongue-in-cheek humor and hilarious characters. The gameplay is great as well, feeling like the adventure games of the early PlayStation era. If you need a bit of charm and classic gameplay in your life, this one will surely not disappoint.
Shadow of the Colossus
With The Last Guardian mere months away (hopefully) now is the best time to visit the last release of Team Ico. Shadow of the Colossus has withstood the test of time being an all time cult classic, blending a beautiful world, mysterious story and fantastic boss battle mechanics. It only feels right to experience it in a new way.
Seriously, is The Last Guardian going to release this time? We need another fill of this developer.
Ratchet & Clank (All of them)
Ratchet & Clank is a series that has stood the test of time. Many other franchises such as Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter and Crash Bandicoot have seen lengthy hiatuses but this series has endured. The PlayStation 3 era of Ratchet & Clank may not be the high point, but it certainly isn’t anything to scoff at. Humorous, cheeky space adventures await.
Asura’s Wrath
Take a bit of God of War, mix it with some Dragon Ball Z then serve it in the form of an energy drink that has spent the last three hours in a paint shaker. That is the best way to describe Asura’s Wrath. While it may be light on truly engaging gameplay, the jaw dropping visuals and pure insanity of scale will leave you immensely satisfied.
Earth Defense Force: 2025
I mean, there is finally a PC game in this series but did anyone really expect it to run well? This PlayStation 3 title has ups and downs as well but who can resist the over the top charm of destroying giant insects with increasingly ludicrous weaponry? It’s a buggy mess of enjoyment in multiple senses.
“EDF! EDF! EDF!”
Killzone 3
This is the weighty shooting experience you’ve always wanted. Everything feels heavy and gritty in the best possible way while you shoot your way through Helghast in this universe. There really is something to be said about a slower shooter, as long as the game can make each and every shot feel impactful, which is a feat Killzone 3 definitely pulls off.
The first two games in the series feel slightly more dated, but if you are looking for the full sci-fi experience then you may want to look into them as well.
The Last of Us
Sometimes it really is a shame when games are platform exclusive. The Last of Us is one of those times. This game garnered critical acclaim on both release and re-release with the PlayStation 4 remastered edition. PC users never had the chance to experience the gritty apocalypse world and harsh tones that the main characters dealt with. Now is the best time to experience it for yourself.
Of course there are hundreds of other games available that are worth your time as well, these are just a few that may have slipped past the PC crowd in recent years. Maybe in the future we will even see the release of PlayStation 4 titles as well. Destiny on a computer screen would be a sight to behold.
