Final Fantasy Origins leads this week's PSN releases
This week's PlayStation Network releases are headed by a PSOne Classic, and this week it truly is a classic: Final Fantasy Origins. Origins introduced the classic RPG series to the PlayStation, melding Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II (which had previously only been released in Japan) into one game, updating the graphics and sound for the then-new console.
Choplifter HD rescuing hostages next week
Developer InXile has announced that their reboot of the classic Choplifter will be arriving next week on Steam, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. The game will be hitting PC and PlayStation 3 on 10th January, and a day later on Xbox 360 on the 11th. The game will cost 1200 Microsoft Points ($14.99 USD).
Choplifter HD being co-published on Xbox Live Arcade by Konami
Konami has announced that it will be co-publishing Choplifter HD with InXile Entertainment on Xbox Live Arcade.
Choplifter HD's aerial rescue exploits on XBLA this autumn
The modern-day spin on the Apple II classic property, Choplifter HD, will be pulling people out of harm's way via the sky this autumn on Xbox Live Arcade. It was announced back in March to already be PC and PlayStation Network bound. Studio inXile are behind the HD revival and enlisted creator Dan Gorlin.
Choplifter HD announced
Most gamers "of a certain age" fondly Brøderbund Software's classic Choplifter, developed by gaming legend Brian Fargo. The game was basically an Apple II variation of Defender in which a lone helicopter had to rescue hostages and prisoners, risking mortar fire from artillery while picking rescues up and combating fighter jets while in the air. The game was insanely addictive, making it to most of the major platforms of the day, including the Commodore 64. Fargo's new company, inXile Entertainment, best currently known for working on Hunted: The Demon's Forge, is bringing it back with modern day graphics for PC and PlayStation 3.
