Developer InXile has announced that its reboot of the classic Choplifter will be arriving next week on Steam, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. The game will be hitting PC and PlayStation 3 on 10th January, and a day later for Xbox 360 on the 11th. The game will cost 1200 Microsoft Points ($14.99 USD).
In Choplifter HD, players once again take up the role of a heroic chopper pilot, but in the new version they’ll have access to a wide variety of helicopters to fly on more than 30 different missions. This time, not only do players liberate captured military prisoners, but also deal with such missions as saving survivors of viral outbreaks or traveling to Minecraft and rescue miners or dealing with a zombie apocalypse. Pilots must bank, hover, touch-down and sometimes even shake zombies from their chopper during lift-off in order to make their rescue and complete their mission.
The original Choplifter was released on the Apple ][ in 1982 and quickly spread to a dozen other platforms, and enjoyed numerous sequels.
