Just like it has loads of zombies, Dead Island 2 is also full of locked boxes and safes that contain useful loot. Many of them, like the Curtis’ Safe Key location, are found while exploring Los Angeles, usually taken from the cold arms of stronger, named zombies.
Dead Island 2’s Curtis’ Safe Key location will likely catch your attention during the Death of the Party side quest, during which you enter Curtis’ mansion and likely spot the locked safe inside. As is often the case with these keys, you won’t be able to get them right away.
Dead Island 2 Curtis' Safe Key Location
Dead Island 2’s Curtis’ Safe Key location only becomes obtainable after completing the Plumbing the Depths story quest, during which you encounter your first Screamer.
Afterwards, these Apex variants will start popping up in various locations across the map. One spot where you’re guaranteed to find them is, actually, the courtyard of Curtis’ mansion.

In the garden, you’ll find a Screamer named Crystal the Lawyer, who you’ll need to defeat. It’s possible that it might move around the area, so give it a sweep, to make sure you don’t miss your target.
You thankfully won’t need to employ any special tactics fighting the zombie, but may have to land a few extra hits compared to when you’re fighting her unnamed peers.
As you emerge victorious from your fight, Curtis’ Safe Key should count among the items dropped. All that’s left then is to pick it up, head back inside the mansion, and use it to unlock the safe.
