Dead Island 2 tasks you with slaying zombies all over Los Angeles. As you unlock more of its districts, you’ll begin to wonder if the option to fast travel becomes available at some point during its story campaign.
Dead Island 2 fast travel makes sense even without the title boasting an expansive open world. Its areas, although themselves not terribly huge, have plenty of things to see and zombies to kill. You’ll also return to them after your first visit, as you track down collectible items or new side quests become available.
Dead Island 2 Fast Travel
Fast traveling isn’t initially available in Dead Island 2. For the first couple of story and side missions, you’ll have to use your trusty feet to reach objectives. You thankfully won’t have to kill all the zombies on the way there, especially when revisiting areas.
You only unlock Dead Island 2 fast travel after progressing a fair bit through its story quests. More specifically, you need to reach the Venice Beach district and complete the main quest called The Red Mist.

As soon as you wrap it up, you’ll get a notification that fast travel maps are now unlocked. As their name suggests, these are actual (and rather colorful) in-game maps that you can interact with to move between districts.
Doing so brings up the map menu, allowing you to pick which district you head to next. The list on the left also shows you how many active quests you have in each of them.
Fast Travel spots are marked on your district map with an icon depicting two road signs pointing left and right. Prior to moving to a new location, you can also set the time of day to either day or night.
That is what you need to know about Dead Island 2’s fast travel mechanic. For more help with the game read our articles on GeForce Now alongside Xbox Game Pass support and multiplayer modes.
