As someone whose loops are questionable in Dead by Daylight, I was thrilled to find out that one of Nicholas Cage’s perks allows you to play stealthily as well as outplay the killer at the same time. That perk is no other than the Plot Twist perk, which as the name suggests, can be handy in confusing the killer and escaping chases.
The mechanic of this perk is a unique one, never to be seen in previous existing perks before. So, if you’re wondering how it works and how you can use it to your advantage, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a guide on how to use the Plot Twist perk in Dead by Daylight.
What Does the Plot Twist Perk Do?
Plot Twist only activates when you are injured. When crouching and motionless, press the Active Ability button to silently enter the dying state with the following benefits:
- Suppressed grunts of pain, leaving no noise.
- Suppressed pools of blood, leaving no bloody marks on the ground.
- Grants the ability to fully recover from dying.
Once fully recovered, you are instantly healed and receive a +50 % haste status effect for 2/3/4 seconds. The haste status effect enables your character to run faster for a short period.
This perk can also only be activated twice in the game. Once before all generators are completed and after the Exit Gates are powered.
How to Use Plot Twist in Dead by Daylight
So, how exactly can you get value from this perk in the game? For starters, you’ll want to lead the killer in places with lots of pallets, such as the map’s main building or a jungle gym.
With the killer now following you, do not be afraid to take a hit. This is extremely important since this perk only activates when you are in the injured state.
The next thing you want to do is crouch beside an unused pallet and hit the ability button to activate the perk. If you have the Power Struggle perk equipped, you can drop the pallet while being picked up to stun the killer, allowing you to escape.
Alternatively, you can also use this perk to escape chases. All maps in Dead by Daylight have areas with tall bushes and grass where you can just silently “lie down” with Plot Twist.
Most of the time, the killer won’t notice you unless they’re running Deerstalker, Barbeque and Chili, and other aura-reading perks or if you’re wearing bright-coloured clothing.
Best Perks to Use with Plot Twist in Dead by Daylight
At the moment, Power Struggle is one of the strongest picks to accompany this perk. The idea is that you’ll want to lead the killer to pick you up when you’re lying down beside a standing or unused pallet. You’ll then want to recover as much as you can, so that Power Struggle activates. When it does, you can stun the killer by dropping a pallet regardless of being carried.
A perk that goes very well with both Plot Twist and Power Struggle is the Unbreakable perk. With the Unbreakable perk equipped, your recovery progression will be faster. This way, you’ll be able to secure Power Struggle to activate since Power Struggle relies heavily on your recovery progression to activate.
Lastly, you should consider using the Flip-Flop perk in case things go south. Assuming you end up lying down with Plot Twist while out of a pallet’s range, the Flip-Flop perk will allow you to convert your recovery progression into wiggle progression. So, if the killer decides to pick you up, you’ll have a higher chance of wiggling out of the killer’s grasp.
