You may recall how valuable the Combat Knife was in the Resident Evil 2 Remake, and fortunately, it has made a comeback in the Resident Evil 4 Remake with significant enhancements. This essential weapon can now shield you against incoming projectiles and grapple attacks from enemies, making it an indispensable tool for surviving the horror-filled action gameplay.
As you progress through the game, you can upgrade the Combat Knife’s durability, but it can break after prolonged usage, leaving you exposed to enemy assaults. Although the solution to this problem is not immediately apparent, this guide will help you learn how to repair and upgrade your Combat Knife.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Combat Knife Durability and Repair
The Combat Knife is Leon’s trusty blade, he has grown quite attached to it, especially since it was given to him by Marvin during the events of Resident Evil 2.
If you’ve managed to damage your Combat Knife or if its durability is low, you’ll need to find a Weapons Merchant who can help restore it to its former glory, at a price of course! It’s worth noting that you won’t be able to access the Weapons Merchant until you’re near the start of Chapter 2.
The cost of repairing your Combat Knife will vary depending on how low its durability meter has dropped. However, if the knife is damaged to the point of being unusable, the repair cost can be quite steep. It’s therefore practical to use the knife only in essential moments at the beginning of the game, such as when you need to reflect a projectile or defend against a Ganado villager’s grab attack.
The Weapons Merchant also has the ability to upgrade the Combat Knife, which can increase its power and durability. If you manage to maximize these stats, you’ll receive a unique perk that boosts its attack speed by 1.5x.
