The long-awaited release of Dead Island 2 is finally approaching, inviting players to venture into a zombie-ravaged Los Angeles as they combat the spread of the lethal virus.
Multiplayer was a major component of the original Dead Island game so naturally, players are wondering if the feature will return when taking into consideration the extensive roster of slayers that are playable. Here’s everything we know about whether Dead Island 2 features multiplayer modes.
Dead Island 2 Multiplayer Support: Team Up or Go Solo?
While details have been scarce, players will be glad to know that Dead Island 2 will incorporate multiplayer much like the original game. While the option is there to play through the entire campaign solo, you can also team up with other players to brave the zombie hordes.
There has been no confirmation regarding the maximum number of players allowed in a party, but the original game supported parties of four. It is unclear if this applies to Dead Island 2, but we anticipate either four-player parties or a maximum of six, with each player assuming the role of one of the six slayers.
In an interview with Dot Esports, Dambuster Studios creative director James Worral revealed that the game’s Skill Card system will play an active role in multiplayer and have positive effects when teaming up with friends. So far there’s been no mention of any other game modes outside the campaign or whether competitive multiplayer modes will factor into Dead Island 2 but more details are sure to be revealed closer to launch. That’s everything we know about Dead Island 2’s multiplayer features, but check back soon for any updates.
