After 10 long years, Dead Island 2 is finally set to launch this week. If the initial critical reception is anything to go by then the game - everybody take a deep breath now - is good. Its average score from critical consensus seems to be floating around the 7/10 mark which many fans will consider a godsend for a title that has had such a troubled development cycle.
After such a long wait, many fans will be wondering how much exactly Dead Island 2 will have to offer post-launch and if the game will have much longevity. Here’s everything we know about whether Dead Island 2 will have DLC.
Will Dead Island 2 Have DLC?
Dead Island 2, technically, will have DLC but it will only be playable as part of the Expansion Pass with Dead Island 2 Gold Edition. It’s worth noting that the Gold Edition is only available via digital stores. The Expansion Pass can also be purchased in a bundle with the physical Hell-A Edition of the game.
Details on the upcoming DLC are scarce but the product description on the Xbox store makes mention of two new brand new chapters which are set to release after the game launches. These new chapters will offer new areas of Hell-A to explore as well as new weapons and enemies to encounter. As it stands, there have been no trailers that indicate where the story could go after the campaign - likely to avoid spoilers - or a potential release date for the two DLC chapters.
In the meantime, Dead Island 2 is set to offer a full and rewarding experience for players. The game features a fairly sizeable campaign with a length of about 20 hours which includes some side missions. Players who strive to see everything the game has to offer though will have a lengthier experience in store. That’s everything we know about whether Dead Island 2 will have DLC.
