AMD just released a brand new tool for gamers, the AMD Fusion for Gaming utility. The utility is designed to allow users to easily create profiles to give priority to gaming processes while throttling back other running processes on their systems in order to get maximum performance from their CPUs whilst playing. The print ad also states that by using fusion to boost the performance of your AMD system, it can also improve performance for media applications and even business applications.
A whitepaper on the AMD site explains that fusion does not actually change the CPU of a system in any way but rather is a process for streamlining what the CPU handles. It gives priorities to CPU processes that can be selected by the user while delaying other processes.
