The demise of Titan Quest’s developer wasn’t the end for some of their projects it seems as the new formed Crate Entertainment pick up the pieces.
Arthur Bruno and Eric Campanella have founded the new studio and felt they couldn’t abandon a game they poured ”so much work and passion into creating,” so they nabbed it.
Arthur Bruno was the lead designer at Iron Lore with Eric Campanella as art director. Black Legion will be the first released title from the February 2008 formed developer studio, working closely with Demiurge Studios in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
”Abandoning this project, that we had put so much work and passion into creating, was one of the most difficult aspects of Iron Lore closing. Black Legion had already generated significant interest with publishers when Iron Lore ran out of operational funds and was forced to close its doors.” said Arthur Bruno, lead designer and co-founder of Crate Entertainment.
”I’m grateful that we have this second opportunity to bring the game to market; this is really the type of game that I joined the industry to make.”
It’s reported that Crate did purchase another IP from Iron Lore but that remains unknown at this time. Right now it seems Xbox 360 action-RPGer Black Legion is their focus.
”One of our real goals is to take the solid game play we established in Titan Quest and repackage it to make it sort of grittier and more appealing to the mainstream audience,” says Bruno.
”We’re trying to evolve the action to something that will bring the RPG to its next level.”
