Its long been thought an Xbox 360 version of Turbine’s MMO Lord of the Rings Online has been in the works, now a survey seems to almost confirm it.
It basically prods gamers, asking them that after forking out $59.99 for the box would you ”pay a monthly” sub of $12.99? It also hints a free-to-play model with micro transactions.
If they went the micro route then players could end up spending bucks for access to more in-game currency, extra character classes/races, gear items like armour and weapons. Even animal companions or mounts would be up for cold hard real life cash - expansion packs too of course.
The Intellisurvey, er, survey, also gave what seems to be the console versions game description which isn’t dissimilar from the PC Lord of the Rings Online:
Make the move to Middle-earth as you adventure from the Shire to the shadowed walls of Mordor! Fight for the Free People of Middle-earth as you battle against the forces of the Dark Lord, or serve Sauron as you seek to obtain the One Ring! Play as any of 8 races and set out on your own epic adventure within the world created by J.R.R. Tolkien.
• Wage war against other players within Middle-earth in epic player vs. player battlegrounds! Earn Destiny Points that can be used to unlock powerful rewards.
• Two Epic Stories allow you to serve the Fellowship of the Ring or the Dark Lord Sauron! More than 600 quests will mold you into an unstoppable force for good…or evil. The choice is yours.
• Explore hundreds of hours of game play in the largest virtual world ever built on console.
Naturally this survey doesn’t confirm the existence of an Xbox 360 version of the MMORPG, but it certainly gives a big nod and wink. What would you favour : sub, or micro?
Perhaps E3 will reveal a new power is rising in 360 lands…
