They’ll tackle ”major core brands” and new original ideas, as they’re renamed THQ Digital Studios ‘Warrington’ and ‘Phoenix’ respectively.
”Consumers are increasingly looking for deeper engagement with their favorite entertainment experiences. They also want to enjoy games and entertainment via convenient social and portable platforms that suit their lifestyle,” said THQ’s Danny Bilson, Executive Vice President.
“We plan to address these needs through a rich offering of content distributed across digital platforms, based both on all of our major core brands as well as new intellectual properties.”
Both the new digital studios will release their first games in THQ’s fiscal 2011 for all major digital platforms, while continuing to release MV vs. ATV games under the Rainbow Studios moniker to preserve the brand.
This shift also means they’ll be losing some staff, by approximately 60 people.
