Publisher Paradox Interactive today revealed that it has spent €10.3M (£8.8M) to acquire Sofia-based developer Haemimont Games. Although the transaction itself was closed in early February, the acquisition price was only disclosed today as part of the company’s Q1 2025 interim financial report.
Earlier this month, Paradox Interactive also purchased the publishing rights to Stranded: Alien Dawn from Frontier Developments, following the closure of the Frontier Foundry label that fueled the latter company’s third-party publishing efforts.
Paradox Interactive Reveals Haemimont Games Acquisition Price
The Swedish publisher noted that acquiring Haemimont Games “is a further step in Paradox’s strategic focus on growing within the management game genre, by building strong internal capacity that complements the Group’s existing studio organisation.”
The two companies previously collaborated on the sci-fi city builder Surviving Mars, a title that was successful enough to spawn a series, which has since struggled to find its footing.
Haemimont Games is also known for its work on the Tropico series and, more recently, Jagged Alliance 3, which fits well into Paradox Interactive’s revitalised efforts to focus on strategy, simulation, and management games that lie at the core of its business.
Although the publisher noted a 4% revenue decrease compared to the first quarter of 2024, which it attributed to a lower frequency of new releases, it is “entering the rest of the year with confidence.”
Its launch schedule over the next couple of months is considerably busier, with Crusader Kings 3’s Chapter 4 set to extend the game’s playable area to include China, Japan, and Southeast Asia for the first time, while Stellaris’ Season 9 fleshes out the fantasy of playing as a master geneticist.
Victoria 3 and Hearts of Iron IV are also set to receive more content, the beleaguered Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is targeting an October 2025 release, while Paradox Arc will continue publishing “experimental” indie games that show promise.
