It was the ”worst experience” he had because it looked nothing like him, and didn’t even adopt his snowboarding style. They just took his name.
”That was terrible. It was the worst experience of my life, cause I was so excited, I’m like 13, they’re like you’re going to be in a video game,” White told OXM at E3 2010.
”You start freaking out, you’re getting excited. Then the game came out and I’m like ‘I don’t look anything like that!’ It was ridiculous, it didn’t really depict anything like my snowboarding or anything, it was just basically me in a game as a character and you realise that it’s because I didn’t have any input.”
”No one asked me what I thought of it, nobody wanted to know that, they just took my name and put it on the character.” This caused White to steer clear of any further involvement with the games industry having been burnt by Acti’s Shaun Palmer’s Pro Snowboarder.
”After my second time doing that, I said ‘I’m not going to do that any more’. We started turning down games and waiting until it was actually my game, and that I could actually make a difference and do something cool and different.”
So far Shaun White has two titles as he’s best chums with Ubisoft. Shaun White Snowboarding, which wasn’t received all that well, and Shaun White Skateboarding which is releasing on multiple platforms later in 2010.
