The Disney Interactive owned Black Rock Studios is now officially closed down confirms former director Nick Baynes. Three new studios have already formed.
Cancelled projects at Black Rock included a sequel to Pure, and to Split/Second. Some claimed Disney ‘mishandled’ the Brighton studio by outsourcing.
”@blackrockster officially closes its doors today,” twittered Nick Baynes. ”Thoughts go out to all facing their last day. A bright future awaits all though I’m sure!”
Baynes has already formed a new studio called Roundcube Entertainment, while ShortRound Games was founded by ex-Black Rock department directors and BossAlien by Pure director Jason Avent. The Disney studio was apparently creating a DOTA-style game.
Good luck to all you former Black Rock’ers.
