It’s only a prototype right now and it’s called ‘Headman’, and frankly looks a bit like someone’s headgear prop from a popular sci-fi show…
The headset has two panels inside, one for each eye, to deliver 3D content directly in front of you as well as sound. It’s completely in the prototype phase for the moment and so won’t be in anyone’s living room just yet - if it survives Sony testing.
The headset even has a rather fetching blue LED bar along the front for that extra sci-fi feel, but otherwise yes you might feel like La Forge off Star Trek: The Next Generation. ”Nobody, not even my wife, interrupted me, so I could get the highest score,” said Sony executive Hiroshi Yoshioka, speaking of his time with the Headman and Gran Turismo 5.
Of course if you felt 3D glasses made you look a little silly…
