Xbox 360 S models transitioning to matte finish

One of the changes between the Xbox 360 and the Xbox 360 S was that the S used a glossy finish, which gave the machine a shinier look. However, with the glossy finish, it made marks like fingerprints stand out.

Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, has confirmed that Microsoft would begin transitioning the Xbox 360 S from a glossy finish back to a matte finish.

According to Hryb on his blog, ”We are actively transitioning all our Xbox 360 S consoles to a matte finish. The consoles will start to arrive in stores over the coming weeks, so if you really love the idea of a glossy console don’t wait much longer.”

The PlayStation 3 itself went from a glossy format at its launch to a matte finish as well. Let us know which you prefer.
