Warhammer 40k Kill Team was the studio’s last effort but it still needs to release on PSN. Three start-up companies emerge from the flaming wreckage.
D3T is one of the new studios that has been put together by Jamie Campbell and Stephen Powell. It’s a three-man team so far but the other new studio is yet to be officially named as founders Don Whiteford and Ric Badger want to wait until the transition ends.
A concept outfit called Alien Apple Studios is being formed by Stu and Donna Jennett. The rest of the staff are looking for work elsewhere and Sony and Evolution have reportedly offered contract work for programmers.
Studio founder Colin Bell meanwhile will be taking leave of the games industry with THQ UK’s closure. ”THQ have done all they can through the consultancy period and have treated staff with respect,” said Bell.
”I’ve definitely been proud to have been involved in setting up and running the studio and have no regrets. I’ve also been proud to work for THQ. We’ve provided around 400 man years of employment over the last eight years and that is no mean feat.”
”However it’s game sales that count! Juiced franchise has sold over 5m and I’m hoping that Warhammer 40k Kill Team, which is launched today, will be a great parting product for the studio.” Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team releases on Xbox 360 and PS3.
