Codemasters has announced that F1 Online: The Game will be launching in early 2012. The racing sim is a free-to-play browser-based version of the company’s Formula One racing title, F1 2011.
Like the retail game, F1 Online: The Game allows the player to be the driver and the team boss of an F1 racing team. Unlike the disc-based game, however, this version is a top-down racer.
F1 Online will have a full set of features, including real life events such as the Formula One World Championship and the Grand Prix, which will require the player to complete practice and qualifiers. The game also features a range of challenges and time trials, as well as leaderboard and social network features.
