Accrding to Heder, ”We’ve spent more time on this game than we will have on either of the other two.” In addition, the pre-production phase began almost four years ago, with a second Beenox team working on the groundwork.
”They are two completely separate teams,” Heder noted. ”We have separate leads, separate artists, separate designers – they’re working in parallel with each other.”
Heder also revealed that a game based on Spider-Man 4 was planned as a tie-in to a film that was in pre-production, but was axed when the film’s production shut down. This was actually a boon to the publisher, as it allowed them to create the Spider-Man story they wanted to work on. Spider-Man 4: The Video Game would have been developed by Radical. ”That was a completely different studio that was working on it, completely different tech, and engine and everything,” Heder said. ”And when the movie shut down, we shut the game down.”
