Speedball 2: Evolution dated for PSN

While the game was less than successful when it was released on Xbox Live Arcade four years ago, Speedball 2 has lived on as a favorite for nostalgic gamers of a certain age. The game became a smash hit as Speedball 2: Evolution on iOS devices, and now it’ll be hitting PlayStation Network in October.

For gamers who don’t know anything about the game, it’s best described as a brutal future sport that combines Ice Hockey, Football and Pinball. Original devs The Bitmap Brothers have joined forces with Tower Studios and Vivid Games to release this version on PSN Minis.

”The on-going success of Speedball 2 Evolution on every format we publish it on is amazing and the Sony Minis version is without doubt the most playable game Tower Studios has released to date,” Tower Studios CEO Jon Hare boasted, ”This classic remake comes across as a breath of fresh air, a really enjoyable, brutal new sports game for PS3 and PSP.”

• 28 Speedball Teams (16 Classic Teams and 12 Intergalactic Teams)

• Tons of Power-ups, Pick-ups and Achievements

The game will be released in North America on October 18, while European PSN gamers will get it on October 19. PSN Plus gamers can download it free starting October 4 in NA and October 5 in EU.
