Southpeak Interactive has announced a new fast-paced fighting game for Xbox Live Arcade, Kung Fu Strike: The Warrior’s Rise.
The game tells the story of General Loh, a warrior struggling to avenge his father’s death while around him ancient China spirals out of control due to warring factions that threaten to split the country apart, told in the style of ancient Chinese tales of revenge and retribution.
Kung Fu Strike also pays homage to the over-the-top martial arts movies of the 1970’s, as well as old school arcade titles like Yie Ar Kung Fu. The art style itself is inspired by Chinese calligraphy.
Gameplay is fast-paced, featuring a tight combat system with fluid attacks and defenses, which can be augmented through unlockable techniques and weaponry, as well as support characters. Players can even engage in two player co-op, in addition to the usual versus combat.
Kung Fu Strike: The Warrior’s Rise will be released on Xbox Live Arcade later this year. No release date has been established.
