Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson has admitted at the recent Game Developers Conference 2012 that he would love to see Dungeon Keeper 3 get developed, stating it would be ”fun”.
Unfortunately, he said: ”(Dungeon Keeper 3) is so stuck in licensing hell that that’s not going to happen, ever.”
”But that would be fun. It would be interesting to invest in some games that I think would really do well and that are actually good games as well - games that I want to see happen,” he added.
He also addressed his earlier offer to help Tim Schafer get Psychonauts 2 off the ground. Notch admitted that he’d underestimated the amount of cash that developer Double Fine would have needed to make it. However, Notch maintains that Psychonauts 2 ”would definitely sell, so it’s a sound investment.”
Dungeon Keeper was first released in 1999, developed by Bullfrog Productions, which was co-founded by Peter Molyneux and later purchased by Electronic Arts, along with the game’s license.
