After 43 bids a man’s prototype of what he claims to be a ”Microsoft Xbox Durango Development Kit” has sold for $20,100. It’s only ”one of two” he owns and didn’t want the other as ”a leg rest.”
Going by the alias DaE, leaks of a supposed Kinect 2.0 spec came from him. There were 18 bidders totalling 43 bids and it quickly rose from $16,000 to $20,000 by the end. Who bought it?
More importantly is it genuine or a grand hoax? No pun intended. Perhaps Microsoft posed as the closing bidder to get their property back into safe proprietary hands?
”I sold one of two I own,” DaE twittered. ”I still have the one that featured in news, the other one wasn’t really necessary to keep as a leg rest.” The dev kit was supplied with ”powercables, and a wired controller,” says the eBay page. Would you want a peek inside an alleged Durango kit? The going rate is $20,000 it seems.
