”The difference is that we’ll use more than one environment - an aesthetic - rather than a giant contiguous space like Forge World,” Shea stated, adding, ”There will also be huge flat jumbo Coliseum ‘walls’ that you can instantly place as enormous floor tiles (or walls). All the spaces are being designed with flexibility and performance in mind.”
Players will be able to create, for example, a remake of Lockout. About the only thing users won’t be to do is make night time maps, simply because it would change some of the matches profoundly; for instance, Active Camo.
As for actually playing on Forge World user-created maps, they won’t be in main playlights, but 343 is looking for a why to make it easy for gamers to pick them. Shea promised that the team is “still discussing how to promote and enable Forge creations in a way that maintains a separation of that kind of content from the main mix.”
Halo 4 is due to be released on the Xbox 360 this coming November 2012.
