Over a week ago, it was reported that Sony had stopped production on the PlayStation 2 in Japan. Well, the inevitable has followed: worldwide production of the PS2 has officially halted.
The PS2’s game library finished with 10,828 titles in its stable - only the Commodore 64’s library of over 14,000 compared with it. The total number of titles sold on the market numbered a whopping 1.52bn, while more than 150m units sold worldwide.
It’ll be interesting to see what the prices for PS2’s still in stock go for. The Dreamcast was remaindered at $40 USD at one point.
