They would have made ”too many compromises” if it launched this year, meaning they ”probably wouldn’t meet” expectations. The magic system is being redesigned.
The Hellraid team want more diversity in both the spells themselves as well as their visual impact. All this takes time and so it has slipped out of this calendar year.
”If we released our game this year we would have to make too many compromises and the final product probably wouldn’t meet all our promises and your expectations. That’s why we’ve made a tough decision to release Hellraid in 2014 or to be more precise: when it’s done,” announced Techland on the official Hellraid website.
”The additional time will give us the chance to add new features and completely new game modes for single player and co-op that until now we haven’t had time to finish. We also want to use this time to rethink a few things.”
”…we want to redesign the magic system to make it even more powerful and diverse, add new ways of casting spells and a set of new, more visually stunning spells,” they continued.
Hellraid is a first-person story-driven campaign of hack & slash monster slaying for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
