Planetary Annihilation is currently one of those exasperating titles that decides not to work if you don’t have a connection to the internet, but thankfully that’s about to change.
Developer Uber Entertainment has revealed that a new patch coming this week will enable offline play. Player-run servers are also on the way in a future patch.
”We’re happy to announce the release of the offline server. Coming in an update this Thursday (October 9), offline server allows you to take over the galaxy in Galactic War without connecting to the Internet,” Uber confirmed earlier this week. ”You can also battle against your frenemies or the AI over a LAN.”
As for player-run servers; ”Down the road, we’ll be adding the ability to run your own online servers as well.”
Planetary Annihilation dropped out of early access last month, to generally positive reviews. Uber is currently running a Kickstarter campaign for RTS Human Resources, but the developer assures fans that post-launch work on Planetary Annihilation will continue apace. The new update will drop on October 9.
