Hegemony creator Longbow Games has taken to Kickstarter to try and fund the next game in its strategy series, Hegemony 3: Clash of the Ancients.
Unlike previous entry Hegemony Rome: Rise of Caesar, this title won’t show off the Roman Empire at its most powerful, but rather the tumultuous period that led to its creation.
Longbow is seeking $30,000, a relatively modest amount by Kickstarter standards. It features the same sandbox gameplay we’ve come to expect from the series, but adds “improvements to the AI and rendering system, an all new interface and a lot more.”
The main reason for the crowd-funding scheme appears to be a desire to make the next entry bigger – the new world map, which contains the same areas as Hegemony Rome plus a lot more, is four times the size of that game’s map. There will be twenty-five factions to play as, and new mechanics for growing cities and factions over time.
You can check out some of the team’s thoughts and intentions in the video above. Longbow has currently raised $2,000 of that $30,000 target, with 28 days to go. The campaign ends on January 9.
