Eidos has put out a new patch for Thief that aims to improve the game’s AMD Mantle support. That’s the only change listed in the patch log, which is a little odd. Those experiencing audio bugs or save game issues will have to wait a little longer.
On the off chance this patch breaks more than it fixes, Eidos has also worked out a way to let you easily roll back the 1.6 game version to the previous 1.5 patch.
It’s pretty straightforward to do, and something that other developers should really think about working in. How many times has a new patch messed up your game, requiring lots of fiddling about with game files or even a reinstall? Exactly. Here’s how to roll back the patch:
While we expect this patch to be an improvement for everyone, if you do have trouble with this patch and prefer to stay on the old version we made a Beta available on Steam, v1.5 build 4158.5, that can be used to switch back to the previous version
Step 1: Go to your STEAM library and select Thief in your game list
Step 2: right-click on the game and go to properties
Step 3: go to the Betas tab in the properties menu
Step 4: select version_1.5 and press ok.”
Eidos says it’s working on further fixes.
