Not too much of a surprise here, thunder god Raiden is the latest announced character for Mortal Kombat X.
The veteran character, who’s been around since the game’s very first incarnation, was revealed during the EVO 2014 fighting championship, and we even got to take a look at his ‘fatality’ finishing move.
In the announcement trailer the giant humanoid battery appears to be on the back foot against Aztec new guy Kotal Kahn, but a few punches and a bloody great dagger to the windpipe can’t keep our hero down and he responds with a fatality move - namely electrocuting his unfortunate enemy’s head until his eyes pop out like a cartoon crab.
Fan-favourite Raiden is one of the most popular characters from the gory martial arts series, and was brought to life in the 1995 movie adaptation by Christopher Lambert, in one of the most incongruous casting choices in movie history. Alternate costume please!
Mortal Kombat X is coming to PC and consoles in 2015.
